Product Review - the Cordminder

In my continuing search to keep my iron's cord from tangling, catching, or just
plain tripping me up, I decided to give the Cordminder by Sullivans International a
try.  The package states:

Keeps cords safely out of the way
    Swiveling arm allows free movement
    Cord stays taut
Attaches easily to the Horn Hobby Table and other surfaces

The Cordminder retails for $10.99, so it wasn't too terribly expensive.  It does a
decent job of keeping the cord under control by including a weighted clamp that
you attach to the irons' cord just above the floor.  The clamp is very similar to a
clothespin in design, but it's so loosely built that I had to use a rubber band to
keep it attached to the cord.  Not a huge problem, but definitely an inconvenience
since it isn't doing the job.

As for the swiveling arm that allows free movement, IT DOESN'T SWIVEL!  You
actually have to apply quite a bit of pressure to get the arm to rotate, and I was
afraid that I was going to break it in the process.  I contacted Sullivans at the email
address listed on the package - SunNotions@aol.com - to ask about this lack of
swivel. Sullivans anonymous customer service person responded back saying this
lack of motion is normal 'so it can be aimed in the direction of the cord travel.'
Am I being too picky because my iron actually moves from one end of my board to
the other during any given sewing session?  I don't think so.

One word of caution - the horizontal roller has an annoying squeak that can
sometimes get under your last nerve.  When I contacted Sullivans about the
squeak, they replied that I should oil the axle.  When I responded that my
attempts to do so had failed, since there was absolutely no space to get oil into it,
they replied,"I was able to do it."  Period.

Bottom line - the Cordminder is okay, but I don't think I'll be carrying this one in
my shop.
